Clear Braces to Keep You Smiling

by Isaiah Walker

If you are mindful of your looks, you definitely have some concern about crooked teeth. If you know you require braces for straightening, you might still not want braces because of the appearance they might give you when you smile. Don't worry, there is a better solution. Clear braces have been a go-to alternative for those who are extra mindful of their cosmetics.

What are Clear Braces?

Clear braces work just like the normal metallic braces. The only difference is that they are less noticeable. You may also find that they are more expensive because of the extra invisibility feature. They are "permanently" installed on your teeth and you regularly visit the dentist for inspection and tightening. Inspection is mainly to confirm that the clear braces are doing their job. The word permanent does not mean forever. It simply means you cannot take the clear braces out and place them in as you like. They are installed by a qualified dentist and removed when they have straightened your teeth.

What if You Want an Option That Lets You Take Out the Teeth Straightening Device?

You may come across another clear/invisible teeth straightening option known as an Invisalign or a clear aligner. Invisalign are trays you place on your teeth and remove when needed. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to choose this option. If your teeth are crooked in such a manner that the Invisalign cannot effectively straighten your teeth, you will have to go with permanent clear braces. You should keep this in mind when you visit your dentist to avoid getting disappointed.

You should also take note of the fact that if you keep removing your Invisalign, you will not get the results you want. For effective results, you need to wear your clear braces for a particular number of hours every day (to be specified by a qualified dentist).

Is There Any Other Option?

There are other braces known as inside braces. These are worn on the backside of the teeth and are permanent as well. You can also expect inside braces to be expensive. You need to weigh your options in terms of what is going to give you quick and effective results, your appearance, your financial state and what your dentist informs you is your best solution. Try not to ignore your dentist's suggestions. He or she knows what is best based on the condition of your teeth.
